EUROPE in the Calves

Upon arriving in Vienna on June 3, 2011, during the Berlin-Prague-Vienna-Strasbourg European Union Cycle Tour (2,000 km), it was a deeply moving moment for seven cyclists (including two women): they had just completed the missing link connecting the Baltic Sea to the Aegean Sea by bicycle;
- in 2006 they had completed the route: Berlin–Warsaw–Vilnius–Riga–Tallinn,
- in 2008: Vienna – Bratislava – Budapest – Belgrade – Sofia – Athens
- and in 2011: Berlin – Prague – Vienna, for a total of 5,132 km by bike across 12 European countries.
You can experience this human and athletic adventure from the Baltic Sea to the Aegean Sea by visiting the “European Union Routes” page on this website.
On June 14, 2011, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, these seven French cyclists were honored by the UECT for completing this “European Union Route” and earning the European Cycling Certificate.
Pierre Reuze, President of the UECT, presented the trophies to the recipients.
1st row: Michéle Serarols – Chantal Morisseau
