MEPPEL (Netherlands) - July 9-16, 2022

From July 9 to 16, 2022, during the European Week of the UECT, cycle tourists from all over Europe will be welcomed in Meppel, a town of 34,000 inhabitants located in the province of Drenthe, in the north-west of the Netherlands. The German border is only 75 km away and the North Sea 50 km. >>>>LOCATION PLAN 

The province of Drenthe offers typical Dutch landscapes with its canals, windmills, Saxon farms and many picturesque villages, such as Giethoorn (Venice of the North) located 10 km from Meppel.

Meppel is a historic city founded in 1442 and the presence of many canals allowed Meppel to obtain the nickname of Klein-Amsterdam .

The pedestrian streets of the historic city center and the Oud-Zuid district will allow you to visit the Grote de Mariakerk church and its tower built in 1422, its two windmills: Molen de Weert and Molen de Vlijt still in operation and the Drukkerijmuseum.

The climate is temperate oceanic.

In close collaboration with UECT, the Dutch organizers of the association DrentseFiets4Daagse Meppel and the municipal authorities will welcome you at the administrative centre, which will be located at Sport Park Ezinge - Ambachtsweg 11 - Meppel (1.8 km from the city centre), where the following events will take place

The Sport Park will also be the departure / arrival point for the various road circuits which will allow you to discover this part of Northern Europe where cycling is part of everyday life. Three in number (40-80-120 km) every day from Monday to Friday, these easy circuits will take you to typical landscapes. .

For accompanying persons, the program of visits will focus exclusively on tourist sites and local crafts, accompanied by French and English guides.
